Happy Birthday

Carter Celebrated his 4th Birthday today!  He is growing up so fast.



East Side

They finished the brick on the east side of the house yesterday.  It gives a pretty good idea of what the house will look like when it is finished.

 

The brick layers are working on the west side of the house today, it is really taking shape now.

 

If all goes well this weekend, they should be spray foaming the exterior walls on Monday, installing the Batt insulation on Tuesday and Wednesday and hopefully starting to hang drywall on Thursday.



Slow Going

The plumbing, HVAC and electrical work is nearly complete and the contractor should be insulating and hanging drywall next week.

 

 

We made a road trip down to Odon, Indiana last night and selected our cabinets, countertops and vanities.  I cannot wait to see the finished product.



Work Inside and Out

 

Jones & Sons delivered a load of brick on Friday (Brampton Marshall).

 

 

My dad and I worked on installing the return air ducts in the trusses.  The flexible lines went in pretty fast, but insulating the rigid duct was a chore.  Next time we will insulate the duct before we hang it (lesson learned).

 

 

 

Carter told everybody that we were going to have a new red brick house, and yesterday he was so excited that they were finally laying the red brick.

 

Garage Floor

 

Even though it rained nearly 2 inches of rain yesterday, A & D was still able to place and finish the garage floor.  It looks great!

Break Time

Bonnie and Zoey are taking a break  from all the work.  And of course, Bonnie is sleeping in the pantry.

Windows

All of the windows and the sliding door have been installed.  I made my first major mistake of the build, we had large casement windows installed in the living room and dining room on the back of the house and neglected to mention we wanted those to be operable, so they are fixed.  We wouldn't open them very often, but it would be nice to have that option. 

 

We ordered the brick yesterday, the brick layers should be starting late next week if it is not too muddy from the rain that we have been getting.

 

 

 

Dad has been hard at work roughing-in the plumbing.
