Walls

They set the basement wall forms and poured concrete all in one day.  Forms will be wrecked on Thursday and hopefully they will pour the floor early next week (if it doesn't rain again).

First Pour

A & D Construction from Odon, Indiana, using the concrete pump to pour the footers for the basement.  It took some time to get the muck out of the hole, but we finally have some progress.

The footers and rebar are in and the water is still coming up.

Too Cold

Carter and Matthew are too cold to watch the mighty machines dig the basement.

The basement is taking on a lot of water, but the sump pump that was installed should help minimize the standing water and muck.  The water is causing some of the side walls to keep collapsing.

Carter keeps asking when he can get down in the hole!

Ground Breaking!

Finally started digging!

They are moving topsoil for use in final grading.

Big Helper

Carter had just gotten a new tool set and was excited to get to help.  Carter is driving in the stake, helping layout the string line for the basement.

If it does not rain too much on Monday, they should start digging on Tuesday and pour the footers on Thursday.

Rainy Days

The recent rain events have pushed back the excavation for the basement.  We have had approximately 4 inches of rainfall in the past week.

If the Spring rains will take a break, the basement should start on April 14, 2014.
